A Collaborative Project receiving funds from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under Grant Agreement No. 200611

WORK PACKAGES

Work package 1 will identify the toxic Abeta species, characterize the effects of Abeta oligomers on memory and, especially, on long-term potentiation (LTP), characterize the effects of Abeta oligomers on synaptic morphology, number and composition,  and identify signalling pathways affected by Abeta oligomers.

Work package 2 will  identify the toxic tau species, characterize the effects of tau and tau mutants on axonal transport, synaptic morphology, number and composition, characterize the effects of tau and tau mutants on LTP and behaviour, and identify signalling pathways affected by toxic tau.

Work package 3 will identify the signalling pathways connecting Abeta, tau and synaptotoxicity, and determine the relevance of tau in Abeta-induced toxicity.

Work package 4 will validate therapeutic targets identified in WP1, WP2, and WP3, in particular the cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) pathway, develop Lama antibodies specific for toxic Abeta assemblies, evaluate the therapeutic potential of inhibitors of Abeta aggregation, and evaluate the therapeutic potential of inhibitors of tau aggregation.

Work package 5 will create the organizational prerequisites for successfully carrying out the project in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Grant Agreement.
